QCPADFI SEEKS PCNC ACCREDITATION
The Quezon City Performing Arts Development Foundation, Inc is
applying for a donee institution status from the Philippine Council for
NGO Certification. PCNC is a non-stock, non-profit and voluntary
organization whose task is to “certify non-government organizations that
meet the established minimum criteria for financial management and
accountability in the service of the underprivileged Filipinos.” As a
donee institution, contributions, gifts, or donations actually paid or
made to QCPADFI shall be allowed as business deductions for income tax
purposes.
Among the benefits include assistance for organizational
strengthening, self-assessment and improvement and giving QCPADFI a
“good standing” for funding institutions to consider as their
organization to support. The accreditation status encourages NGO’s
like QCPADFI to professionalize its operations, be transparent and
accountable not just to donors but to the public in general
NOVA STUDIO OPENS SOON
A new studio located in the compound of Rosa Susano Elementary School at Novaliches, Quezon City will soon be completed in time for acceptance of new QCPADFI scholars. The construction of Nova Studio is a response to a growing need to reach out to more underprivileged children from the 2nd District of Quezon City. For years, it has been a struggle for accepted scholars to commute from the District II to Amoranto Sports Complex in District IV where the present studio is located. The distance hinders QCPADFI from keeping its scholars stay in the program. It is important for QCPADFI to reach out to children from District II as most of the indigent residents live in the said area.
The Quezon City Performing Arts Novaliches Studio will formally open on the 3rd week of July. With the MOA signing between Quezon City School Division Superintendent Dr. Victoria Fuentes, Rosa Susano Elem. School Principal Dr. Rosemarie Yague, QCPADFI Chairperson Joy Belmonte and QCPADFI President Tony Fabella, 40 new dance scholars will start training before July ends.

NEW PROGRAM STARTS ON JULY
The Filipino Musical Instruments Program will start on the 3rd week of July 2005. The program seeks the familiarization and development of indigenous Filipino music and instruments among the younger generation.
Audition for the program will start on the 1st week of July. Edru Abraham, a noted professor of the College of Arts and Letters, UP-Diliman and founder of KONTRA – GAPI will handle the program.
Edru Abraham started his career as a Dancer-Musician under the Filipinescas Dance Company founded by Leonoar Orosa Goquinco, the National Artist in Dance. As a professor from the University of the Philippines, he founded the multi-awarded and world-famous KONTRA-GAPI, a group specializing in the music, dance and culture of the ethnic tribes in the Philippines. Prof. Edru Abraham was awarded as the Most Outstanding Artist in the Performing Arts for 2002 in the International Award for the Arts.
The Filipino Musical Instruments Program is the second extension program of QCPADFI after its Voice Program which started last October, 2004. Under this program, 40 underprivileged children will receive scholarship benefits. Hopefully, the Foundation will have a complete dance and music ensemble by the end of the year.

QCPADFI LIBRARY, QCPADFI STUDIO ANNEX
With the growing number of QCPADFI Scholars, the Foundation has planned the expansion of its present dance studio. The construction started on April 2003 and by the end of June 2003, the QCPADFI Studio Annex was completed. It is a high-ceilinged studio designed for dance lifting and jumping. It is complete with comfort room, dressing room and dance mirrors. It can accommodate 60-70 dancers in one session.
Simultaneously, the QCPADFI Library was opened to respond to the academic concerns of the scholars and encourage their interests in culture and arts. It is located at the 2nd floor of the Amoranto Multi-Purpose Hall. The collection of QCPADFI Library includes academic books on Science, Math, English and History for all educational level. There are also books on theater arts, dance, music and literature. Children’s books, encyclopedias, and biographies can be found in the library. One of its precious possessions is the hard to find collection of long-playing albums. Donors both individuals and institutions continue to send books, albums and memorabilia’s to fill the QCPADFI Library.
The construction of QCPADFI Studio Annex and Library was made possible through the Foundation’s fund-raising activities and the generous support of its donors.
